If you’re struggling with feeling like there’s something wrong with you because the countless one-size-fits all, “do-or-die” training and fitness programs or strategies you’ve tried over many years just haven’t worked… my trainers and I want to first tell you:
There is nothing wrong with you.
You are whole.
You are capable.
You are worthy, and deserving, of good health.
“Personal training” has a lot of baggage attached to it – most of it not all that great. The entire process of trying to stick “cookie-cutter” personal training programs to ourselves is an exercise in frustration. And, there’s an entire industry built for guilt to shame you into buying the next program, book, video – WHATEVER – because THAT’S going to be the one that holds the magical secret to achieving all your dreams and goals. Just wave the mystical credit card wand and POOF!…
That, in a polite word, is pure hogwash.
My trainers and I are not really “personal trainers.” And we’re not really yoga teachers. We’re not physical therapists. And I’m definitely not “therapists” (and we don’t play one on television). So, here’s the short version of what we do:
We help people who are hurting in so very many different ways to get stronger, feel more connected to themselves, and improve their lives.
We call it coaching, but my approach to coaching is a little different. We’re not there to count reps, or hand you your next piece of equipment, or – ugh! – bark out orders. We don’t run a “boot camp.” We use a brain-body-heart approach that allows you the freedom to grow at your own pace. You’ll always leave feeling better than when you walked in the door!
When we coach you we, of course, provide plenty of positive reinforcement. That’s just what a good coach does. But, more importantly, we recommend and help you find happy movement. This can include various types of weights and yoga poses and breathing drills and neurological stimulus and really big hugs. We do this because we’ve seen this stuff change lives when people are brave and willing and open and supported.
When we work together, it’s all about three keys to getting your body and brain back on the same team: Mindfulness, Movement, and Metabolism. We’ll achieve this through a variety of techniques:
- Positive emotional training
- Intentional coaching
- Being real together
- Movement & strength training
- Body awareness & body accuracy training
- Meditation & mindfulness
- Eating real food
- Enjoying life again
- Playing & having fun
If it’s fun and enjoyable, you’re far more likely to not only stick to it; you’re also more likely to look forward to moving, exploring, stretching yourself (literally and figuratively). You’ll probably even find yourself doing some of the movement and good habits we work on while you’re at home doing other things. And, to come full circle, that’s my mission – to help you get stronger, feel more connected to yourself, and improve your life!
